Day 7: Indomita Visit

Today was our company visit to Indomita! We got on the bus around 9:00 for the hour drive to the company. Indomita is a wine company that produces some of Chile's best wine and exports. The vineyards were beautiful and covered so much land. They harvest once a year at the beginning of their winter season, so they just harvested recently. The view from the company is beautiful and we could see all of the vineyards for acres. Then they took us into the factory to see the fermentation process. This is when the sugars in the grapes are converted to alcohol. They do this in stainless steel tanks because they leave no taste on the wine.
After this, some wine will be aged. They do this in barrels in the wine cellar with a temperature of 16 degrees Celsius to evaporate certain chemicals, which gives the wine a special taste.

Then we went on to the patio and they let us taste 3 different wines. They were so good!

After the visit, we went to Isla Negra to eat and see the house of the famous poet, Pablo Neruda. Pablo loved the sea, so he built his house in the shape of a boat right on the shore. The view is amazing and the house was so cool. He collected so many strange things dealing with the sea or sailing, and they covered the house. He also had a love for trains because they remind him of his father and his childhood, so part of his house resembles a train. There were many big stained glass windows, so he could see the sea in many different colors. After this we went down to the shore to relax. We were climbing rocks and taking pictures, it was a lot of fun.

We also visited the shops lining the streets where locals were selling handmade things. I bought a beautiful ring and a necklace. Then we went back to the university for dance class! Our instructor taught us different Chilean dances that they do at clubs. I had so much fun, it was basically like a 2 hour zumba class!
